Is the BlessData App Safe? How to Avoid Fake Apps and Scams

By the BlessData teamPublished 31 October 2026Updated 31 October 2026

Fake apps and scam messages are common in Nigeria. Here is how to get the genuine BlessData app, spot fakes and keep your wallet safe.

Who is behind BlessData?

BlessData is owned and operated by Gemezu Global, a Nigerian business registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) under Business Name Number 9264845. You can read more on our Trust and Security page and in the FAQ.

Where to get the genuine BlessData app

  • Use the Google Play link on blessdata.com.ng (for example, on our BlessData App page).
  • Anywhere else (a WhatsApp group, a Telegram channel, a text message or a social media post), treat it as suspicious until you have confirmed it on blessdata.com.ng.
  • On iPhone there is no store app. Use Add to Home Screen from Safari.
Never install a BlessData “APK” file. APK files sent outside Google Play can be modified to steal logins and wallet money. BlessData does not distribute the app this way.

How to spot a fake BlessData app or website

  • It asks you to install a file from a link instead of using Google Play.
  • The website address is not blessdata.com.ng, even if the design looks identical.
  • It promises prices that look impossible, or asks you to “activate” your account with a payment.
  • Someone on WhatsApp or Telegram asks you to send money to a personal account.
  • It asks for your password, transaction PIN, OTP or card details outside the normal login and payment screens.

What BlessData will never ask you

  • Your password, transaction PIN or OTP. Never send these to anyone, including someone who says they work for BlessData.
  • To pay money into a personal bank account to “unlock” your wallet or an upgrade.
  • To install software or allow remote access to your phone.

How to protect your account

  1. Use a strong password you do not use anywhere else.
  2. Keep your 4-digit transaction PIN private. See how to change your password or PIN.
  3. Keep Google Play and your phone updated.
  4. Log out on shared phones and do not let others use your logged-in app.
  5. Check your transaction history regularly.

What to do if you think your account is compromised

Change your password straight away, then contact support. Follow the steps in what to do if your account is compromised and message us on WhatsApp (+234 808 122 2007) or at support@blessdata.com.ng. Please also tell us about any fake BlessData app, page or account you find, so we can help protect other users.
